I’ve been busy (haven’t we all?) with school starting up for the 2009-2010 school year.

I’m teaching juniors and seniors again this year. Currently, my seniors are reading The Hobbit. I think that’s going relatively well. However, my class is SO large (27) that it’s hard to tell for some students. The students who don’t cause a problem in class — I fear they’re slipping through the cracks. Oy!

My juniors are reading Fahrenheit 451. Has anyone else ever taught this at the junior level? It seems as if it is above their level — the comprehension of the plot is close to nothing. Or, at least it feels that way. I’m not sure what to do, but they just aren’t getting it. Boo. 😦
