Is the bane of my existence…sometimes. I don’t think the “research” is right that says it’s beneficial for students. It does not lead itself to continuity. It does not allow teachers to get in depth with anything. As we’re required to get through a year’s worth of content in a semester — it more often than not means I’m a steamroller or a freight train, but probably not an effective teacher.
Currently my students are pissed at me because we started watching Of Mice & Men — and we haven’t finished it. They want to watch the ending. Not that I blame them, but we haven’t had time. We have to write another essay. We have to write a speech. We have to present speeches. We have to read another short story AND a play. And we’re out of school on May 21st.
Tell me…how will all this happen?
